When it comes to the tight end position in NFL DFS, you can get away without spending a lot of money for quality value. This season, we’ve seen numerous tight ends have a breakout game, which sends fantasy players into a frenzy. Here are some of the top tight end plays over and under $4,000 on DraftKings in Week 8.
Tight ends over $4,000
Darren Waller, Las Vegas Raiders vs. Cleveland Browns ($5,600)
If you are looking for a stack play in Week 8, give some consideration to starting Derek Carr and Darren Waller. Waller is one of the best tight ends in the NFL and one of Carr’s favorite offensive targets.
Last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Waller had six receptions (nine targets) for 50 yards, which converted into 17 DraftKings points. It was the third-straight week that the veteran tight end scored at least 15 DraftKings points. On Sunday, Waller will be facing a Browns’ defense that will give up yards through the air and is ranked 28th against opposing TEs (OPRK).
Jonnu Smith, Tennessee Titans vs. Cincinnati Bengals ($4,100)
Before this season began, Jonnu Smith was looked at as a sleeper candidate in fantasy. The former FIU standout started off the season on a great foot, scoring three touchdowns and averaging 16.4 DraftKings points in the first three weeks.
However, his production slowed down a bit as he suffered an ankle injury in Week 6 against the Houston Texans. Then last week vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers, he only scored 1.9 DraftKings points with one reception (four targets) for nine yards. Do not expect this same output this week against the Bengals. Cincinnati’s defense will be looking to take wide receiver A.J. Brown out of the picture, which could open up some opportunities for Smith.
Tight ends under $4,000
Harrison Bryant, Cleveland Browns vs. Las Vegas Raiders ($3,200)
Week 7’s fantasy/DFS breakout candidate will get another chance to duplicate his performance on Sunday against the Raiders. Last week versus the Bengals, the rookie tight end flashed with four receptions (five targets) for 56 yards and two touchdowns. Ultimately, he scored an astounding 21.6 DraftKings at a $2500 value.
Could Bryant score 20 plus DraftKings points on Sunday against the Raiders? It’s a possibility, especially since they are allowing 287.3 passing yards per game, and there’s no Odell Beckham on the perimeter. Las Vegas ranks 17th against opposing tight ends (OPRK). That being said, temper your expectations just a bit but still put Bryant into your lineup.
