Game day update: Damien Harris is listed as questionable, but is expected to play, according to Ian Rapoport. Harris remains the top projected Patriots running back at ESPN with 10.0 points in PPR leagues. Rex Burkhead follows at 9.7 points and James White is at 7.9 points. With wind gusts of over 40 mph in the forecast, this will be a big game for running backs.
The New England Patriots have a trio of running backs, and it’s up to the fantasy owners to decide which one they should be inserting into their lineup this weekend. The candidates include Damien Harris, James White and Rex Burkhead.
Let’s take a closer look at the New England backfield.
Fantasy Football analysis: Patriots RBs Damien Harris, James White, Rex Burkhead
Harris was limited during practice but is expected to play. In the last time out, New England was blown out against the San Francisco 49ers. Harris led the Patriots in rushing with 58 yards on 10 carries with one reception for 12 yards. Burkhead rushed for 12 yards on four carries, and he caught three passes for 35 yards. White did not receive a carry and finished with one catch for three yards.
New England is matched up against a Buffalo Bills defense this weekend that allowed exactly 100 combined rushing yards to New York Jets running backs Frank Gore and La’Mical Perine. Additionally, the running game may see more of a boost than usual with potential for rainy, windy conditions in Buffalo.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
To rank the Patriots running backs this weekend, it would probably go Harris, White and then Burkhead. None of them are higher than a third running back for fantasy purposes.
