How and what to watch for San Diego State vs. Utah State

It’s only game number two for both of these teams, so it’s tough to gauge how good they are.

This week the San Diego State Aztecs look to remain undefeated as they head to Utah to take on the 0-1 Utah State Aggies on Saturday night.

It’s just the second game of the season for both teams, but they looked wildly different in Week 1. The Aztecs put up 424 total yards on UNLV, and 287 of them came on the ground. Sophomore running back Greg Bell had 111 yards in is SDSU debut. Chance Bell, also had two scores of his own on the ground.

The Aggies gave up close to 200 yards and three touchdowns rushing in its loss to Boise State last week. They weren’t much better against the pass either, allowing three more scores and 279 yards to the Broncos.

Utah State only scored 13 points last week and managed just 200 total yards on offense. They were slightly better on the ground than they were passing the ball, but neither was very impressive. They should have a better day against SDSU, but the Aztecs still have a good defensive unit. Former Utah quarterback Jason Shelley will have to play much better if his team is to have any shot against the Aztecs.

The Best Bet

The point total looks good here. Utah State had a tough first game against a very good Boise team. SDSU is still good with a powerful running game, but they’re not as talented as the Broncos and should get slowed down. Both teams will revert back to the mean here a little bit.
