The 3-2 No. 24 Oklahoma Sooners travel to Lubbock to take on the 2-3 Texas Tech Red Raiders Saturday night.
This shapes up to be a traditional Big 12 matchup, with a lot of scoring and abysmal defense that will be mocked in the film room the next day. The Sooners are averaging close to 40 points per game, with QB Spencer Rattler having a pretty good year. He’s also made some major mistakes which have resulted in five interceptions, but he’s thrown for 15 touchdowns and over 1,500 yards in just five games. Oklahoma can get it done on the ground as well, with RB TJ Pledger having three scores and 341 yards. As a team OU averages over 150 yards rushing per game.
That will be tough for the Red Raiders to stop, who give up about 150 yards per game rushing, but really have a hard time against the pass. Opponents are completing close to 70% of their throws and have scored 11 passing touchdowns on this defense. They give up 37 points per game, including 63 to Texas last month in an overtime battle.
While Oklahoma has issues of their own against the pass, their run defense has actually been quite stout this season. The team has allowed an average of just 92 yards per game, only allowing two teams to eclipse 100 yards. Tech quarterback Henry Colombi has four touchdowns and 528 yards since taking over as starter. He’ll need a big game this week to keep up with Rattler and the Sooners.

The Best Bet
Texas Tech’s pass defense should have trouble against Rattler and the Sooners. Tech will be able to score points of their own though. It looks like a pretty standard Big 12 game shaping up with a lot of points Saturday night.
