Halloween will pair two ACC foes looking to get a grip on the 2020 season as the Virginia Tech Hokies will travel into Bluegrass country to battle the Louisville Cardinals.
The inconsistencies of the Hokies’ season snuck up again last Saturday with a 23-16 loss at Wake Forest, knocking them out of the top-25. VT was penalized 10 times for 112 yards in the road loss and wasn’t helped by quarterback Hendon Hooker throwing three interceptions.
The home Cards have shown life as of late. After hanging with Notre Dame the week prior, Louisville demolished Florida State 48-16 last Saturday, a game where quarterback Malik Cunningham, running back Javian Hawkins and wide receiver Tutu Atwell all went off on the Seminole defense. After 11 turnovers in their first four games, UofL has had just one giveaway in the last 120 minutes.

- Louisville is 0-3 as an underdog this year.
The Best Bet
Virginia Tech’s hiccup at Wake Forest wasn’t pretty but they’re still ranked 21st in Bill Connelly’s SP+ rankings. While having emerging weapons is a plus on offense, UL’s defense is still vulnerable with a ranking of 88 in defensive SP+.
Expect this to be somewhat of a pointsy affair with Virginia Tech doing just enough to pull away.
Pick: Virginia Tech -3.5
