How and what to watch for Troy vs. Arkansas State

The Troy Trojans will head on the road to play the Arkansas State Red Wolves in a Sun Belt matchup on Saturday afternoon.

Troy enters Saturday afternoon’s game with a 3-2 record, coming of a 36-34 loss to Georgia State last week. Whether Jacob Free or Gunnar Watson is under center, the Trojans toss the ball around effectively. Last week, Free came in for an injured Watson and completed 24 of 38 passes for 329 yards and two touchdowns, though he threw a pair of interceptions. It is unclear who will start Saturday’s game.

Arkansas State enters with a 3-3 overall record, and were unable to hang around and keep it all that close against Memphis, Coastal Carolina and Appalachian State. Against the Mountaineers last Thursday, the Red Wolves were handled fairly easily 45-17. Arkansas State has dealt with a fairly difficult schedule, but there’s no questioning its success on the offensive side of the ball despite a poor showing last week.

In the previous matchup between these two teams, Arkansas State beat Troy 50-43 on the road in 2019.
