The UCF Golden Knights (3-2) are looking to put together their second two-game winning streak of this season when they travel to the Houston Cougars (2-1) on Saturday afternoon. If you love offense, this is the game to watch.
The Golden Knights were once the golden children of the American Athletic Conference. But that title now belongs to the SMU Mustangs and Cincinnati Bearcats.
UCF is coming off of a dominating 51-34 victory over the Tulane Green Wave last week. In that contest, Golden Knights sophomore quarterback Dillon Gabriel completed 65 percent of his passes for 422 yards and five touchdowns.
This was the second time in consecutive weeks that Gabriel has thrown five touchdowns and zero interceptions. Overall, the 6-foot signal-caller is completing 64.9 percent of his passes for 2,178 yards, 19 touchdowns and two interceptions. Another Golden Knight to keep an eye on is senior wide receiver Marlon Williams.
Williams has racked up 54 receptions for 753 yards and six touchdowns, which are all career-highs. As for the Cougars, they too have an explosive offense, which is led by junior quarterback Clayton Tune. The 6-foot-3 quarterback is completing 66.3 percent of his passes for 945 yards, seven touchdowns, and two interceptions.
Tune will be looking to pass for 300-plus yards for a fourth consecutive game. If he wants to accomplish this feat, senior wide receiver Marquez Stevenson will have to play a significant role. The 6-foot wideout has 15 receptions for 266 yards and three touchdowns this season. Whomever is the first to score 50 points might come away with the victory in this AAC shootout.
