It’s always great when you get an unexpected boost from your kicker in fantasy football and we have our eyes on a couple players who could put a solid numbers of balls through the uprights in Week 8. There are also some kickers you probably want to stay away from. Here’s who we think is worth keeping an eye on.
Kicker Starts
Randy Bullock, Cincinnati Bengals vs. Tennessee Titans
Bullock has scored more fantasy points than any kicker in the NFL so far this season and the Bengals are really starting to figure things out on offense. The over/under for this game is installed at 53.5 on DraftKings Sportsbook and only one Week 8 Game has a higher total. Bullock has made at least three field goals in five of the seven games he’s played in this season.
Joey Slye, Carolina Panthers vs. Atlanta Falcons
Slye has scored in double-digits four times this season and is tied with Bullock for most field goals made (17) in 2020. The big-leg kicker has a ton of range and came close to sailing a 65-yarder through the uprights his last time out. He’s bound to get scoring opportunities against the Falcons and scored 11 points the last time he faced them.
Kicker Sits
Jason Meyers, Seattle Seahawks vs. San Francisco 49ers
Although Seattle has one of the most dynamic offenses in the NFL, he has only attempted four field goals this season. An efficient scoring team like the Seahawks doesn’t give him many chances to shine. It’s hard to justify playing Meyers anywhere with this kind of volume.
Sam Ficken, New York Jets vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Ficken was a star when he kicked five field goals against the Denver Broncos earlier this year, but I don’t see that happening against the Chiefs’ sturdy defense. The Jets score the fewest points per game in the NFL and Ficken has been held to just one field goal in three games. If the Jets only managed to score 10 points agains the Buffalo Bills’ struggling defense in Week 7 it can’t hope to put up much of a fight against the reigning champs.
