In the women’s bantamweight battle on the undercard of UFC Vegas 12, Cortney Casey will take on Priscila Cachoeira Saturday in Las Vegas, and available on ESPN+.
The 33-year-old Casey is heading into the Halloween bout with a record of 9-8. This is her third UFC fight this year. “Cast Iron” Casey last fought in June at UFC on ESPN 11, where she lost to Gillian Robertson in Round 3 due to rear-naked choke submission.
Casey’s last win happened a month earlier in May against Mara Romero Borella. In that particular fight, she defeated Romero Borella in Round 1 by an armbar submission by 3:36. Casey lands a significant amount of strikes per minute at 4.40 but has a striking accuracy of 38 percent. She also absorbs 4.31 strikes per minute and defends at 53 percent.
Casey can also grapple, and has a 0.31 takedown average per 15 minutes. If Casey can get Cachoeira on the mat, then she has a good chance of getting a submission. Her submission average per 15 minutes is 0.6.
Cachoeira is coming into the UFC APEX with a record of 9-3. The 32-year-old Brazilian will be fighting in her second UFC match this year. At UFC Fight Night 168 in February, she defeated Shana Dobson in Round 1 via knockout in just 40 seconds.
Before that bout she had lost three-straight matches, including two by unanimous decision. “Pedrita” has racked up 3.84 strikes landed per minute with a 37 percent striking accuracy. But unlike Casey, she absorbs a lot of strikes at 7.93 per minute and only defends at a 42 percent clip.
