In the main event of UFC Fight Island 4 on Saturday night, #2 women’s bantamweight Holly Holm takes on #6 Irene Aldana live from Yas Island in Abu Dhabi live on ESPN+.
Holm is one of the mroe well-known women’s MMA practitioners in the world thanks to her defeat of Ronda Rousey in one of the biggest upsets ever in the sport. But since that epic win for the championship, she’s just 3-5 in the UFC and has lost four more bouts for the belt. With a 13-5 career record, in her octagon bouts she lands just 2.75 strikes per minute. The 38-year-old originally from Australia fights out of Jackson-Wink MMA in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Aldana is 12-5 overall, 5-3 in the UFC. The 32-year-old from Guadalajara, Mexico lands a whopping 6.16 strikes per minute, and has only been taken down twice in her UFC career. Her last bout was a first round KO of Ketlen Vieira on December 14th of last year, which earned her a Performance of The Night bonus. It was the third time she’s taken home the additional $50,000 in her eight fights.
