Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence tests positive for Covid-19, confirmed by Dabo Swinney

10/31 UPDATE: Following Clemson’s win over Boston College, head coach Dabo Swinney announced Trevor Lawrence will NOT be available for the team’s game against Notre Dame next weekend.

UPDATE: Lawrence took the test on Wednesday, according to Adam Schefter, which would count as day one of a potential ten-day isolation. That means he could return as soon as the Notre Dame game if the symptoms subside and he tests negative.

UPDATE: Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney released a statement indicating Lawrence authorized him to announce the QB tested positive for Covid-19 and is experiencing mild symptoms.

Clemson Tigers starting quarterback and likely #1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft Trevor Lawrence has tested positive for Covid-19.

The Tigers were listed as 32.5 point favorites over the BC Eagles before this news, and were down to 28.5 within minutes. D.J. Uiagalelei is their backup quarterback, a five-star recruit from football factory St. John Bosco High School in Southern California, the #1-rated pro-style quarterback and the #10 player on the 247Sports composite in the Class of 2020.

Lawrence is one of the most dynamic players in college football, and has a career record of 30-1 as a starter. In six games this season he’s passed for 1833 yards with 17 touchdowns and two interceptions. He’s also added four touchdowns as a rusher and one as a receiver.

The status of Lawrence for one of the college football games of the year against Notre Dame on November 7th is in doubt. As of this writing, Clemson (6-0, 5-0 ACC) is a 14.5 point favorite in South Bend.
