The Carolina Panthers are next up for Todd Gurley, and that should stir up some positive memories for Gurley’s fantasy owners, who saw him romp over the Panthers for 150 total yards and a score on just 18 touches in Week 5. Those owners will be hoping for something of a repeat on Thursday night.
Fantasy Football analysis: Falcons RB Todd Gurley
Outside of that Week 5 showing, Gurley has fallen short of 65 rushing yards in five of his six other games this season. You can see that he’s not the same game-breaking player he was with the Rams just a few years ago. But he has buoyed his fantasy value with seven rushing scores, which is tied for the most in the league. Six of those TDs have come from inside the 10-yard line. You can probably guess when the one exception occurred: Week 5 versus the Panthers as Gurley ripped off a 35-yard score in the first quarter. Carolina’s run defense has been taken advantage of all season long, and nothing should change here. Gurley also caught a season-high four passes versus the Panthers in that previous meeting, and we should see more of that as well this week; Carolina has given up an NFL-high 56 receptions to running backs so far.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Considering the matchup and Gurley’s scoring ability, Gurley is a stellar start this week. He is worth rostering at $6,100
