7:37 a.m. update: Here is a transcript of Manfred’s postgame comments.

12:14 a.m. update: ESPN’s Jeff Passan is reporting the lab conducting the Covid-19 test informed MLB that Turner’s Monday test came back inconclusive and his Tuesday test was run and showed up positive. This reportedly happened in the second inning of Game 6 and the league called the Dodgers to pull Turner.

12:10 a.m. update: Rob Manfred’s statement after the game was simple, “We learned during the game that Justin (Turner) was a positive. He was immediately isolated to prevent the spread,” per Mike DiGiovanna.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are world champs, but there was a bit of drama leading up to the final game. Third baseman Justin Turner was pulled from the game after three at bats and it turns out it was because a test came back positive for Covid-19.

Turner was 0-for-3 with two strikeouts when he was pulled. His last at bat came in the sixth inning and he was replaced in the 8th inning with Edwin Rios coming in at third base and Kiké Hernandez coming in at second base and replacing Turner in the lineup.

FOX Sports broke the news broke immediately after the Dodgers clinched the world championship. ESPN has since reported the same piece of news. There is no word yet on how this happened given the idea that teams would want players tests returned before they take the field. There will be numerous questions of the Dodgers and Major League Baseball for their handling of this situation.
