Report: Chris Godwin out Week 8 with fractured finger

Buccaneers lose Chris Godwin for at least a week. Antonio Brown will need a short learning curve for Week 8.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin suffered a fractured left index finger against the Raiders in Week 7, per Tampa Bay Times’ Rick Stroud. The injury will keep him out of Monday night’s game against the Giants, but could return in Week 9 depending on how it heals according to Stroud. With Mike Evans also less than 100 percent, Scotty Miller, Tyler Johnson and Rob Gronkowski will again be called on for additional work.

Godwin has had trouble staying on the field this season, as he’s also been dealing with a hamstring issue. But, when available, he’s played well, catching 25-of-29 targets for 279 yards and two touchdowns through four games that he hasn’t been fully healthy. Hopefully the fracture doesn’t linger, as he should remain a strong target for Tom Brady even if Antonio Brown works out.
