Arizona Cardinals running back Kenyan Drake injured his ankle against the Seattle Seahawks Monday night and couldn’t return to the game. He now will miss “a few weeks” with a slight ligament tear in his ankle, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Schefter says the injury will be treated like a high-ankle sprain.
Drake has underwhelmed as a runner this season, but was seeing enough work in good situations to be a useful fantasy back. His backup, Chase Edmonds has shown well with the work he’s seen, rushing 29 times for 176 yards (6.1 ypc) and a touchdown while catching 26-of-32 targets for 222 yards and two more touchdowns. Besides having better efficiency stats, he has also looked much better as a runner than Drake this year.
The Cardinals have a bye this week, and then will face the Dolphins and Bills at home and then head to Seattle and New England. Those are matchups Edmonds can have success in, so make sure he’s not on your waiver wire this week.
