How the NFL playoff picture looks coming out of Week 7

The NFL is wrapping up Week 7, and a few teams are standing out in the playoff picture heading into Week 8.

We are fast approaching the halfway mark of the 2020 NFL regular season. One game remains in Week 7, and next week we’ll see several teams reach the halfway point of their schedule. For now, we have two remaining undefeated teams and five one-loss teams all looking like they’ll lock up half the playoff spots.

The NFL is expanding the playoff pool this year, adding a wild card team to each conference to bring the total to 14 teams. The No. 1 seed in each conference will get a first round bye. The opening round will feature the three division winners facing the three wild card winners (2/7, 3/6, 4/5).

We have a decent chance of having a team with a losing record in the mix as the NFC East remains a disaster. This past weekend saw the Eagles beat the Giants and Washington beat the Cowboys to put the 2-4-1 Eagles in first place for the time being.

On the other end of things, the Steelers remained undefeated in beating the previously unbeaten Titans, while the Seahawks lost their zero in a wild overtime game against the Cardinals.

We have a host of key matchups in Week 8, but the biggest game of the week will feature the Ravens hosting the Steelers with first place in the AFC North on the line. Add in Saints-Bears and 49ers-Seahawks and you’ve got a heck of a Week 8. Oh, and Cowboys-Eagles closes out next Sunday with first place in the NFC Least on the line.
