The 2020 NBA Draft is set for November 18th after the longest season in League history. The order for the first and second round is set and we already know that the Minnesota Timberwolves will be selecting No. 1 overall after winning the NBA Draft Lottery back in August. Some of the top prospects who could be selected high in the draft include SG Anthony Edwards, G LaMelo Ball and C James Wiseman, among others.
The Cavaliers have gone through a lot of post-LeBron James rebuilds. This is the second one, in fact. The Cavs finished the season 19-46, the worst record in the Eastern Conference. They were able to secure the No. 5 pick after being jumped by the Bulls and Hornets. Andre Drummond may stick around on a player option. Tristan Thompson may bolt in free agency. Cleveland has a ton of young guards in Collin Sexton, Darius Garlund and Kevin Porter Jr. Finding a big at No. 5 overall may be the way to go.
Here, we’ll be going over all the draft picks for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first and second rounds.
First Round: No. 5 overall
Second Round: Traded to POR (CHA owns rights)
Update, Oct. 26 — The Cavaliers are going to begin their pre-draft process this week with interviews and workouts with prospects. Among the players expected to be looked at is Dayton Flyers PF Obi Toppin, per Cleveland.com. The process will begin Thursday with a virtual interview.
