Rashard Higgins: Early waiver wire option in Week 8

The Browns won a barn burner on Sunday, but may have lost Odell Beckham Jr. for some time with an injury. If he misses time, Rashard Higgins looks poised to step up.

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Rashard Higgins (82) makes a leaping catch over Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Darius Phillips (23) in the fourth quarter of the NFL Week 7 game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Cleveland Browns at Paul Brown Stadium in downtown Cincinnati on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2020. Monday update: OBJ texted Josina Anderson to announce he tore his ACL and his season is over.

The Cleveland Browns won a crazy game over the Bengals on Sunday due to Baker Mayfield throwing five touchdowns, but they might have lost their No. 1 receiver in Odell Beckham Jr. Beckham left due to an injury and will get an MRI on Monday, but initial reports don’t look overly optimistic. If he does miss time, Rashard Higgins should be rostered in most leagues.

Higgins tied for the team lead with six targets and caught all six for 110 yards. That led the team in receptions and yards while the touchdowns went elsewhere. The Browns also have one of the best schedules moving forward, which makes Higgins even more of a priority pickup if Beckham Jr. misses extended time.

Mayfield and Higgins have shown a strong rapport in the past, but Higgins has had trouble staying healthy and finding snaps. We may finally see what Higgins can do with starters snaps.
