Game status: Julian Edelman is ACTIVE for Week 7.
Surprise, Julian Edelman is officially listed as questionable again this week. The only thing that happens with more certainty on a regular basis is the sun rising and setting each day. A knee injury is what’s bothering the New England Patriots wide receiver, but there’s no reason to think he can’t play this week against the 49ers.
Fantasy impact: Julian Edelman (knee)
New England’s offense is sluggish, at best, this season. Most of the focus is on the running game with quarterback Cam Newton. That’s leaving Edelman without much to do each week. After he exploded for 179 yards in Week 2 against Seattle, Edelman’s had just 66 yards on seven catches in three games. Newton’s return to action last week against Denver didn’t have much of an impact on Edelman’s fantasy production either.
The 49ers are middle of the road when it comes to defending wide receivers. Both Josh Reynolds and Robert Woods of the Rams were able to find the end zone against them last week, but nobody broke 50 yards. At this point, Edelman is just too much of a risk to use in fantasy.
