The Patriots are hoping to bounce back after a disappointing 18-12 loss to the Denver Broncos. Unfortunately, the Pats will square up against former backup QB Jimmy Garoppolo and the San Francisco 49ers, who are fresh off a crucial divisional win over the LA Rams. None of the Patriots receivers have proven any fantasy worth so far, but could that change this week?
Fantasy Football analysis: Patriots WRs Julian Edelman, Damiere Byrd, N’Keal Harry
Among the top three New England wide receivers, of course Julian Edelman is the one who we’ll look to first for fantasy success. Over his last three outings, Jules hasn’t even hit seven DKFP, seeing only six targets in each competition. Notably, offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels stressed the need to get Edelman more involved after the Denver loss, so there is at least some hope for change.
N’Keal Harry and Damiere Byrd are absolute long shots in this Patriots offense. The only way to find success with these two is if they can convert on a touchdown. Though with Cam Newton hogging the ball around the goal line, it makes the outcome even less likely. And if you weren’t already convinced to not start these New England receivers, consider this: the Patriots have the third-highest rushing play percentage in the NFL this season.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Only start Edelman as a desperation WR4. Now is not the time to try your luck with Harry or Byrd.
