What to do with Frank Gore, La’Michal Perine in Week 7 fantasy football

We go over Frank Gore, La’Mical Perine’s fantasy football outlook ahead of the Jets Week 7 matchup against the Bills.

Game day update: ESPN projects Frank Gore at 8.0 points, La’Mical Perine at 9.4 points, and new addition Ty Johnson at 2.5 points in PPR leagues. Gore got the larger workload last week with 11 carries and four receptions, but Perine wasn’t too far behind with seven carries and two catches. Johnson is a wild card, although if you have Gore or Perine rostered and potentially starting in a flex role, you shouldn’t worry much about Johnson this week.

As Le’Veon Bell boarded his plane to Kansas City, the New York Jets’ running game consisted of Frank Gore, La’Mical Perine and little else in Week 6 against the Dolphins. This week, they will face the Bills, who got shredded by Clyde Edwards-Helaire on Monday.

Fantasy Football analysis: Jets RBs Frank Gore, La’Mical Perine

Gore continued to grind away yards, gaining 46 on 11 carries in Miami. Hilariously, he caught four passes just days after the Jets cut Bell, one of the best pass-catching backs in the league. Those four receptions were Gore’s most in almost three years. But it wasn’t Gore who actually benefited the most from Bell’s dismissal; the veteran played only about one-third of the snaps for the second consecutive week. No, it was the rookie Perine who saw the greatest uptick in work. He logged a season-high 41 snaps and turned nine touches — seven carries, two catches — into 36 yards. Nothing outstanding, but worth noting. He had just 17 offensive touches in his four previous games. The Bills’ defense allowed 161 yards on the ground to CEH, but there’s a juuuuuuust little bit of a talent gap between the Jets and the Chiefs. For the season, the Bills have been a middle-of-the-road matchup for opposing RBs.

Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation

You want neither Gore nor Perine in your lineups this week, even at their low prices of $4,300 and $4,200, respectively. But if you’re speculating at running back in a deep league, Perine is worth at least keeping on your radar.
