Game status: Robert Tonyan is ACTIVE for Week 7.
Game day update: Tonyan is expected to play on Sunday, per Ian Rapoport. He is worth starting barring any change in status between now and 11:30 a.m. inactives. ESPN projects him at 9.1 points in PPR leagues.
Robert Tonyan was yet another victim of the Buccaneers’ dominant defensive performance in Week 6, as his production plummeted in a three reception, 25-yard performance. This came after a Week 4 outing in which he had six receptions for 98 yards and a highly impressive three touchdowns.
Tonyan sat out Wednesday and Thursday practice with an ankle injury. He got in a limited workout on Friday and is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Texans. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET, so we’ll know his game status by 11:30 a.m.
Which kind of performance can we expect from Tonyan in Week 7 and does he belong in your starting lineup? We break down the fantasy analysis below.
Fantasy Football analysis: Packers TE Robert Tonyan
Tonyan is currently the seventh leading fantasy scorer at the tight end position this season. Following a goose egg in Week 1, Tonyan’s production ramped up in the following weeks and peaked during an explosive 33.8 point PPR performance in Week 4. Week 6 was tough for the Packers offense as a whole and owners should not place too much stock in that performance.
Tonyan has earned the trust of Aaron Rodgers, which is a proven value booster in fantasy football. The tight end position is always hard to fill with a reliable player, and Tonyan has made the case that he can be that elusive component for fantasy mangers. If he is active, look for him to bounce back against a weak Houston defense and start him as a TE1 in Week 7.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Start Robert Tonyan as a TE1, but keep an eye on the inactive news at 11:30 a.m.
