How and what to watch for Florida State vs. Louisville

Florida State and Louisville are coming off impressive performances against ranked teams. Who will get it done on Saturday?

The Florida State Seminoles will look to keep it going following their big win when they head on the road to play the Louisville Cardinals on Saturday at noon ET.

Florida State is coming off a massive victory for a struggling program, holding on for 31-28 win over the then-No. 5 North Carolina Tar Heels. The Seminoles held a 31-7 lead at halftime before being outscored 21-0 in the second half but still came out with the win. Jordan Travis completed eight of 19 passes for 191 yards and a touchdown and interception. Travis also rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns, and La’Damian Webb also rushed for 109 yards on 12 carries.

Louisville is coming in with a 1-4 record and a four-game losing streak but played it close against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Saturday with a 12-7 road loss. The Cardinals’ defense had been a mess and Notre Dame put up plenty of points, but Louisville put together a pretty good fight. Malik Cunningham completed 16 of 19 passes for 132 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for 49 yards on seven rushes. Louisville held a 7-6 lead late in the third quarter but was unable to pull off the upset.

Florida State won the last two games of this series including a 35-24 victory in 2019 at home.

The Best Bet

Yes, Florida State pulled off an incredible upset but there has to be at least a little bit of an unsatisfied feeling after the way the victory ended. The Seminoles didn’t have much of an answer on offense in the second half, and they largely benefited from crucial drops from North Carolina pass catchers. I trust UL’s performance on Saturday more than I do Florida State’s. Let’s go with the home favorites.

Pick: Louisville -5
