What to do with Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley, Russell Gage in Week 7 fantasy football

We go over Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley, Russell Gage’s fantasy football outlook ahead of the Falcons Week 7 matchup against the Lions.

Game day update: Julio Jones was limited in practice this week with a hamstring injury, but is expected to play, per Adam Schefter. ESPN projects Jones to have 17.7 points in PPR leagues, followed by Calvin Ridley at 16.2 points, and Russell Gage at 7.8 points.

The Atlanta Falcons seem to be rolling again, sort of. After a rough, winless start to the season, they won their first game last week, no thanks to a dominant performance from Julio Jones. This week they have another winnable matchup against the Detroit Lions, a game that also has all the makings of a shootout. So how does that impact the team’s wide receivers when it comes to fantasy?

Fantasy Football analysis: Falcons WRs Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley, Russell Gage

Last week’s game was the first time since Week 1 that we saw the dynamic duo of Jones and Ridley both put up big, or at least useful, fantasy stats. Jones had 137 yards and two touchdowns, and Ridley kicked in another 61 yards and a score.

Jones sat out Wednesday’s practice, but returned in a limited role the following day. Ridley was limited in practice earlier in the week, but they’re both on track to play this Sunday’s game. The Lions have allowed opposing receivers to score six touchdowns. And last week saw Jaguars WR Keelan Cole post 143 yards. They’ll have their hands full with Jones and Ridley, and both guys are viable WR1 plays. Neither player comes cheap in DFS leagues, but there’s a high probability that you’ll get a nice return for the investment.

Gage has a role to play in this offense too, but with both Jones and Ridley healthy, it’s harder for him to make a meaningful fantasy contribution. He does have some value as a flex player or even a third WR slot.

Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation

Start Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley. Sit Russell Gage.
