Tale of the Tape for Liana Jojua vs. Miranda Maverick

In a women’s flyweight bout on the preliminary card of UFC 254, Liana Jojua will take on Miranda Maverick this Saturday live from Fight Island in Abu Dhabi and available on ESPN+.

In the only women’s preliminary card fight, Maverick is the biggest favorite on the entire card. 7-2 in her MMA career, Miranda “Fear The” Maverick has wins via submission, so she’s clearly a confident grappler. Both her losses and her two other victories were via decision.

Not a strike-heavy fighter, Maverick will want this fight on the ground early and often. She does have a three-inch reach advantage which may come into play. At just 23, she’s two years younger than her opponent.

Jojua is 8-3 in her MMA career, 1-1 at the UFC level, most recently taking down Diana Belbita via first-round armbar. Averaging 1.98 takedowns per 15 minutes, “She Wolf” is a grappler as well. Averaging 1.39 significant strikes while absorbing 3.23 per minute, both fighters may want this bout on the ground.

While Maverick is the heavy favorite, there could be value in backing a fighter with both UFC experience and some success at the level.
