Game day update: It’s a rainy day in the DC area as of Sunday morning and it’s supposed to rain most of the day. It’s not windy, but the soggy field surface could slow down the passing game at least a little bit. Cooper remains a must against a shaky WFT defense, but there is a little bit of downside.
The fallout from Dak Prescott’s injury and the transition to Andy Dalton as the Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback is throwing real monkey wrench into what had been a productive group of fantasy players. So now the offense is in the hands of Dalton, which one of the Cowboys top three receivers is in line for the most productive day against Washington this week?
Fantasy Football analysis: Dallas WRs Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, CeeDee Lamb
Cooper still ranks as the No. 1 option here, and he’s just too good to leave on the bench... even with Dalton under center. He caught seven passes on 10 targets last week and scored a touchdown, with Dallas desperately throwing the ball to try and make up points. He’ll have a more favorable matchup this week against Washington, a team that’s allowed Robert Woods, Darius Slayton, and DeAndre Hopkins to roll up solid fantasy outings this season. And if Slayton can do it with Daniel Jones throwing him the ball, Cooper should be okay.
Lamb also saw 10 targets from Dalton last week, catching seven for 64 yards. The Cowboys defense ensures that the offense is going to be chasing points in most weeks. Plus, Dallas has been using him on shorter passes (Dalton’s specialty) and banking on his speed to get through defenses. That makes him a decent third option at receiver or a flex play.
Gallup looks like the odd man out here. There’s just not enough good throws to go around with Dalton quarterbacking the team. He’ll have some good weeks through the rest of the season, especially with Dallas using him as the primary downfield option, but it’s hard to count on those for fantasy.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Start Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb. Sit Michael Gallup.
