Game status: The Giants are activating Sterling Shepard for Thursday Night Football, per Mike Garafolo.
New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard has been activated from I.R. and has a good chance to play tonight against the Eagles, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Shepard injured his toe in Week 2 against the Bears and has missed the last four games, as turf toe is tough to heal.
While Shepard has been out, Darius Slayton has played well in his stead and should still be targeted well in a game where the Giants should need to throw to succeed. But, Shepard is the best all around wide receiver on the team and should eventually pass Slayton as the No. 1 target.
Fantasy impact: Sterling Shepard (Toe)
The question for tonight is if Shepard will be able to get a full workload in his first game back. That is up in the air, but this is a good matchup. If hard pressed for a wide receiver, I’d rather risk Shepard than some further down the pecking order, but he is risky after missing four games.
