Friday PM update: Sam Darnold officially got a limited practice in on Friday, per the injury report. He is listed as questionable and is on track to play after getting limited work in all week.
Friday update: Sam Darnold will start on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills barring a setback, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. The Jets weren’t winning with Darnold, but they sure weren’t winning with Joe Flacco. Darnold is without a doubt an upgrade for the offense this week.
The New York Jets are back at practice to open Week 7, and they have some positive news to get the week going. Quarterback Sam Darnold is back at practice in limited fashion on Wednesday, according to Brian Costello. Darnold has missed the Jets last two games with a shoulder injury.
The Jets are playing the Bills this weekend, and will be looking for a boost to a struggling offense. Darnold struggled over his first four games, but backup Joe Flacco has been abysmal in two starts in place of Darnold. Flacco was completed 52 percent of his passes for 397 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. The Jets have scored ten points total in two games with Flacco at the helm.
The return of Darnold isn’t going to clean up all the Jets problems, but he is an upgrade over a thoroughly cooked Flacco. For fantasy purposes, Darnold would represent a modest upgrade for the likes of Jamison Crowder and Breshad Perriman, among others.
