Best available quarterbacks on the Week 7 waiver wire

There are a few quarterbacks widely available that either have good matchups heading into Week 7, or had successful Week 6 performances, or could benefit from an injury. With that in mind, here are four quarterbacks with under 60% rostership in traditional fantasy football leagues that managers can consider picking up for Week 7.

Week 7 byes: Lamar Jackson, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Kirk Cousins, Philip Rivers

Justin Herbert, Chargers (54 percent)

Next up — JAX, @DEN, LV, @MIA, NYJ

Herbert has looked great this season. He doesn’t have a fortress for an offensive line, but he’s still putting up good numbers under a lot of pressure. I’d rather his offensive line was better, but hopefully the bye week will help with a couple injuries. The good news is that he gets a nice matchup with the Jaguars this week and overall his schedule doesn’t look too daunting. In his four games, he’s topped 22 fantasy points three times and in his worst game, he still threw for 330 yards.

Jimmy Garoppolo, 49ers (29 percent)

Next up — @NE, @SEA, GB, @NO, BYE

Garoppolo wasn’t asked to do much downfield in Week 6 due to his ankle injury, but he was still able to throw for three touchdowns and 268 yards while taking no sacks. The Patriots and then a bad Seahawks pass defense are up next. New England has been middling against the pass, so there is some upside there for him, but the Seattle game might be where we get our best streaming matchup.

Carson Wentz, Eagles (60 percent)

Next up — NYG, DAL, BYE, @NYG, @CLE

Wentz won’t have many healthy players to work with against the Giants this week, but he’s doing enough in the rushing department to keep his floor high. He’s frustrating to be sure, but with four rushing touchdowns in his last five games, he doesn’t need much in the way of passing numbers to push him into a good play. But the best piece of information for Wentz is his schedule. With the Giants twice, Cowboys and Browns on the agenda, he has fantasy upside moving forward.

Kyle Allen, Washington (3 percent)

Next up — DAL, BYE, NYG, @DET, CIN

Can Kyle Allen be a fantasy asset? Well, maybe. This recommendation is mostly for his matchup with Dallas, as he has a bye the following week and I could understand not wanting him on your team even with a good schedule post-bye. Against the Giants, Allen completed 31-of-42 passes for 280 yards, two touchdowns, one interception and one fumble. If he could have avoided the turnovers, it would have been a good fantasy day. With Dallas up next, he’s worth a streaming start if your quarterback is on his bye.
