In the final preliminary card fight, Kyler Phillips meets Cameron Else in a bantamweight bout that will take place this Saturday, October 3, live at Fight Island in Abu Dhabi and available on ESPN+.
Phillips is coming in as the heavy favorite, and with a 7-1 record (1-0 in the UFC) it’s for good reason. The 25-year-old is an aggressive fighter, tossing 6.53 significant strikes per minute and landing 53 percent of them in his unanimous decision win over Gabriel Silva. He takes just 2.09 and defended 67 percent of those. He also had two takedowns in that bout.
Phillips doesn’t have too many weaknesses, and he’ll be taking on 33-year-old Cameron Else. Else has 14 MMA fights and has won ten of them. That’s impressive to start, but he’s yet to fight in the UFC. That jump combined with his age may not serve him well against an up-and-coming bantamweight star.
About seven months ago, Phillips destroyed Gabriel Silva in his first UFC appearance. Now, he’ll get a chance to make it 2-0, and the bookmakers think he’ll do it again.
Here are the betting odds at DraftKings Sportsbook for Kyler Phillips vs. Cameron Else at UFC Fight Night on October 3rd.
