The Los Angeles Dodgers and Tampa Bay Rays will square off in the World Series starting Tuesday at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. Both are coming off Game 7 victories in the NLCS and ALCS, respectively. They also finished with the best record in their respective leagues this season, what should make for a thrilling finish to the 2020 season.
Here are three bets to consider as first pitch draws near.
Rays moneyline for Game 1 (+138)
After two days off, the Rays will have all hands on deck for Game 1 of the World Series. The team announced Tyler Glasnow will start Game 1, but he will be followed by a deep relief corps that has been Tampa Bay’s bread and butter all season. The bullpen’s effectiveness could wane as the series goes on, their arms get tired and the Dodgers get a beat on them, but they should at least have the upper hand in Game 1.
Manuel Margot for World Series MVP (+4,400)
Other than rookie sensation Randy Arozarena, who has the third-best odds to win World Series MVP (+1000), Margot has been the Rays’ best hitter in the playoffs. Margot actually has more RBI (11) than Arozarena and half of his 10 hits were homers. Margot has also made some incredible plays in the outfield and has a strong track record against the Dodgers. The former Padre has seven career homers against Los Angeles, the most against any team. At the long odds of +4400, Margot could be a terrific value bet for MVP.
Rays in 7 games (+650)
Three of the last four World Series have gone seven games, and this seems like the prime series to follow suit, with both teams being pretty evenly matched and it taking place at a neutral site. The Dodgers at +425 in seven games is a decent bet, but the Rays at +650 is even better. Tampa Bay has proven to be gutsy in winner-take-all situations, already beating the Yankees and Astros in such fashion in these playoffs.
