Darren Fells: Early waiver wire option in Week 7

Darren Fells lit it up against the Titans while Jordan Akins was out because of injuries.

Houston Texans tight end Darren Fells was thrust into the spotlight ahead of Week 6 after Jordan Akins went down with an ankle injury and concussion in Week 5 and surpassed expectations. The 34-year-old caught six of his seven targets for 85 yards and a score against the Tennessee Titans. He could become a premiere waiver wire target ahead of Week 7 for fantasy owners that need a boost at tight end.

Fells is rostered in 20 percent of Yahoo leagues. Both he and Akins were top 25 tight ends in standard and PPR leagues through Week 5, so Fells could climb the ranks as the only reliable option at tight end. Fells could continue to be productive while Akins is out, but his season-long outlook isn’t great with Akins working toward making a Week 7 return.
