After a slow start to the season, the Lions rookie running back D’Andre Swift broke out in Week 6 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Swift and Adrian Peterson split carries, as Peterson had 15 carries for 40 yards and a touchdown while Swift has 14 carries for 116 yards and two touchdowns while catching 3-of-4 targets for seven yards.
Peterson got a one-yard touchdown in the first quarter, but Swift found the end zone from one-yard out in the second and then from six-yards out in the fourth. His usage around the goal line is extremely promising. He has slowly been getting dropped in some leagues, pushing his roster number down to 74 percent of Yahoo leagues.
The Lions won this game against the Jaguars 34-16 to go 2-3 on the season. At this point, there isn’t much reason to give Peterson a big workload moving forward, as this team needs playmakers and Swift showed that he is today. These two will share work, but Swift won the job and the benefit of the doubt today.
