Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver James Washington benefitted most from Diontae Johnson’s absence in his team’s Week 6 matchup against the Cleveland Browns. The wideout caught four passes for 68 yards and a score and led all Steelers with seven targets. Washington could be a popular waiver wire target ahead of Week 7 depending on how healthy the Steelers are out wide.
Washington is rostered in 10 percent of Yahoo leagues and 5.4 percent of ESPN leagues, so he’s often available. I wouldn’t put him above rookie Chase Claypool though. Claypool led the Steelers in receiving yards for a second straight week on Sunday with 74 on four catches. He and JuJu Smith-Schuster seem like better long-term options.
I wouldn’t bank on Washington emerging as a top passing option for Ben Roethlisberger. He ranked fifth in targets heading into Week 5. He’s only worth a waiver wire pickup in deeper leagues.
