Week 6 is upon us, and there are several under-the-radar quarterbacks that could be in for monster games this weekend. We’ve identified a couple ideal plays along with some options you should consider sitting to maximize your fantasy football potential.
Quarterback Starts
Gardner Minshew II, Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Detroit Lions
Minshew is quietly having one of the a solid fantasy season. He’s top 10 in passing yards (1,429) and touchdowns passes (10) through five weeks .He’s thrown the fourth-most passes (196) in the NFL and has attempted at least 40 passes in four straight games. The Lions have been solid against the pass, but Minshew has thrown for multiple scores in four games and could benefit from Desmond Trufant dealing with a hamstring injury.
Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikinga vs. Atlanta Falcons
Cousins is only owned in 21.2 percent of ESPN leagues and has a chance to have a ceiling game against one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL. Atlanta has given up at least 300 passing yards in every game this season. Cousins, Adam Thielen, and Justin Jefferson have a dream matchup that’s hard to pass on.
Quarterback Sits
Nick Foles, Chicago Bears vs. Carolina Panthers
The Bears are 4-1 but Foles hasn’t been all that great at quarterback. He’s thrown a pick in every game he’s played in and has only thrown for multiple scores once. Carolina has been bad against the run, but has one of the NFL’s best pass defenses so far this season. It’s easy to get 250 passing yards and a passing touchdown from ple ty of other quarterbacks.
Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons vs. Minnesota Vikings
Ryan kicked off 2020 with a strong start but has fallen off the map when it comes to fantasy production. The Falcons signal-caller hasn’t thrown a touchdown pass in two games and has seen his top target — Julio Jones — struggle with a hamstring injury throughout the season. This will be Atlanta’s first game since the firing of Dan Quinn, and there’s no telling what will happen under new management.
