Sunday AM update: The injury report should not have much impact on Clyde Edwards-Helaire’s opportunities heading into Monday. He’s the clear starter this week, with Darrel Williams likely getting some backup work. The big storyline heading into this game is the Chiefs’ signing of Le’Veon Bell. The new addition cannot play on Monday due to the Covid-19 protocols, but will Edwards-Helaire have a little extra motivation to impress before Bell gets a crack at some of is snaps?
The Chiefs just signed running back Le’Veon Bell on Thursday, but he won’t be eligible to play until next week due to league COVID protocols. So it’ll be the Clyde Edwards-Helaire show against a struggling Bills defense on Monday night.
Fantasy Football analysis: Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire
Edwards-Helaire had an extremely exciting NFL debut, rushing for 138 yards and a touchdown, but he’s fizzled out a bit since.
He’s still been a solid option in PPR leagues, with 17 catches for 169 yards through the air over the last four weeks. The big fantasy points for touchdowns just haven’t been there though, as he’s failed to hit paydirt since Week 1.
The matchup against a struggling Bills defense is an enticing one. Buffalo is giving up over 100 yards per game and an average of 17 fantasy points per game to running backs. They’ve also allowed at least one touchdown to a running back in every game except one.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
The Bills defense has struggled all around this season. Facing off against a Chiefs offense that rarely struggles against anybody, this could be an opportunity for CEH to get back on track in the rushing yards and TD departments.
Start Edwards-Helaire in Week 5.
