In a bantamweight bout on the early preliminary card of UFC Fight Island 6, Said Nurmagomedov will take on Mark Striegl live from Fight Island in Abu Dhabi and available on ESPN+.
Nurmagomedov will open as the heavy favorite. With a 13-2 MMA record, he is 2-1 at the UFC level. More prone to striking, Nurmagomedov averages 4.22 significant strikes per minute while only taking 2.34. He deflects 61 percent of strikes thrown as him, and his only UFC fight to not go the distance was a first-round knockout. The 28-year-old is looking to get back on the winning side of things, having lost his last bout to Raoni Barcelos in December of last year.
His opponent Striegl is making his UFC debut. With an 18-2 MMA career with one no contest to his name, 14 of his 18 victories have come via submission. The Philippine-born fighter is clearly a comfortable grappler, an ability he’s be looking to use to his advantage. Having conquered Covid-19, Striegl will be looking to conquer his first UFC fight as well. One important note is Striegl typically fights in the featherweight class.
