How and what to watch for Georgia State at Arkansas State

The Georgia State Panthers and Arkansas State Red Wolves will have the college football Thursday night slate all to themselves on Oct. 15. Both teams head into this game looking to get above .500.

The highlight of Arkansas State’s season was beating the Kansas State Wildcats in their second game of the season, and hold a 2-2 record after beating the Central Arkansas Bears 50-27 on Saturday. Arkansas State utilizes a dual-quarterback system with Logan Bonner and Layne Hatcher, and both threw for three touchdown passes on Saturday. The Red Wolves’ two losses came on the road against the Memphis Tigers and Coastal Carolina Chanticleers.

Georgia State has only played in two games this season and will come in with a 1-1 record. In the season opener, the Panthers held a 14-point lead over a ranked Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns team but lost in overtime. Georgia State is coming off a 49-29 home win over the East Carolina Pirates on Oct. 3. In that game Cornelious Brown threw for three touchdown passes and 238 yards, but also a pair of interceptions as the team finished with three turnovers in the win. Destin Coates rushed for 113 yards and two touchdowns, and wide receiver Sam Pinckney caught seven balls for 134 yards and two touchdowns.

Arkansas State won first five matchups of this series, but Georgia State was victorious last year 52-38 at home.
