The New Orleans Saints host the Los Angeles Chargers at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome for a Week 5 Monday Night Football matchup. The game will begin at 8:15 p.m. ET on ESPN. The visitors are looking to rebound from a three-game losing streak while the hosts are looking to get a second straight win. We’ve identified some of the best bets to consider for the game on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Alvin Kamara to score a TD (-250)
Michael Thomas has been suspended for Week 5 because of an altercation he had with a teammate last Friday, so it appears like New Orleans’ offense will continue to run through Kamara. Kamara leads the Saints in rushing (236) and receiving yards (321). He’s scored in every game this season, so it’s hard to see him not finding the end zone against the Chargers. Los Angeles has given up a receiving touchdown to a running back in two straight games.
Keenan Allen over 6.5 receptions (-162)
Allen has gotten a ridiculous amount of targets since Justin Herbert took over as the starter. He’s logged at least seven catches in three straight games and hasn’t dipped below 10 targets since the season opener. Janoris Jenkins and Marshon Lattimore are dealing with hamstring injuries, so I expect Allen’s elite route running to give him the advantage against a depleted secondary.
Chargers to upset Saints (+280)
New Orleans was nearly upset by the Detroit Lions in Week 4. A late-game surge helped the Saints take the lead down the stretch, but Matthew Stafford was able to throw for three touchdowns on just 206 passing yards. Even though the Chargers are without Austin Ekeler, Herbert has been able throw for 300+ yards consistency and spread the ball around. The return of Mike Williams could set Los Angeles over the top. The Chargers are far more talented at cornerback than the Saints are at wide receiver.
