Apple iPhone 12 predictions for ‘Hi, Speed’ event on October 13

The company is having its biggest event in years on Tuesday. Guess what’s to come and you can win!

If you love your devices, there’s no better day than when Apple decides to tell you on what you’ll be spending your money over the next several years. And on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. ET, Apple will be premiering its latest devices and toys at their “Hi, Speed” (get it... they’re so cute in Cupertino) event. Most notable is the iPhone 12 launch, but there will be a host of other gadgets unveiled.

These events are shrouded in secrecy, as is all the research and development that surrounds them, so no one knows exactly for sure what’s coming until it’s announced. But if you make the right guesses, you can win up to $500 from DraftKings Sportsbook in their Apple “Hi, Speed” Pool.

There are eight questions, and we’ll attempt to sort through a few of them here.

How many new iPhone models will be released?

  • 1
  • 2
  • 3+
  • A new iPhone is not announced

There are rumors of as many as FOUR iPhones being announced, with an iPhone Mini, an iPhone 12, an iPhone 12 Pro (faster chipset), and an iPhone 12 Pro Max (the biggest screen on an iPhone ever at 6.7 inches) being in play here. But with the iPhone 11 coming in regular, Pro, and Pro Max flavors, we’ll bet there’s at least that many models available. Colors not included (but we’re geeked for our new blue toy).

When will the iPhone 12 models be available to purchase?

  • October
  • November
  • December
  • January, later, not announced

Repeat after me: “There is no way Apple is missing the holiday season.” Yes there are manufacturing delays brought on by Covid-19, and the trade war President Trump started with China doesn’t help, but this is the world’s largest company by market capitalization. When you’re worth $2 trillion, you find ways around things like this or you don’t stay worth $2 trillion for too long.

Will the Apple Silicon Mac be released at this event?

  • Yes
  • No

Apple switching the chips in the MacBook to AMD processors that are cheaper was announced earlier this year, but we’re going to bet that transition isn’t quite complete and we’ll hold off on the newest and possibly cheaper MacBooks.

Will AirTags be announced at this event?

  • Yes
  • No

The devices that will help you find your lost stuff via BlueTooth have been long anticipated, but sharp Apple followers think they’re a Q1 2021 release.

Will earpods be included with the new iPhone 12 models?

  • Yes
  • No

Why pay once for what Apple can charge you for twice? And as amazing as the AirPods Pro are (we’ve got them in using all their noise canceling glory as we type this), not everyone loves how they fit and feel. Plus with rumors of high-end over-the-ear headphones en route coming any day (possibly at Hi, Speed), we’ll bet Apple lets consumers choose how they listen.
