How to handle Jordan Akins injury in Week 5 fantasy football

Jordan Akins is on the Texans final injury report for Week 5. We break down what it means for fantasy football roster decisions.

Game status: Jordan Akins is INACTIVE for Week 5.

Houston Texans tight end Jordan Akins is officially listed as questionable on the team’s Week 5 injury report. He has been dealing with both an ankle injury and a concussion that knocked him out of last week’s game early. But he has cleared the league’s concussion protocol, and was able to get in some reps as a limited participant in practice on Thursday and Friday.

Fantasy impact: Jordan Akins injury

All signs point toward Akins being able to play on Sunday when the Texans host the Jaguars for a 1 PM ET kickoff. That said, he’s probably not a viable option for fantasy lineups, unless you’re desperate for help at the TE spot.

Akins has one touchdown and 168 receiving yards so far this season, but he’s been a bit player in a struggling offense. It might be worth watching him in this one to see if he does end up with a larger role now that head coach Bill O’Brien has been fired.
