How the public is betting Raiders vs. Chiefs in Week 5

A wide point spread favors the Chiefs. Can they cover it?

NFL: New England Patriots at Kansas City Chiefs Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

A divisional match up Sunday between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Las Vegas Raiders promises to be a show. Patrick Mahomes vs. Derek Carr is not a bright lights, marquee match up, but does promise to have all the intensity of a divisional game.

As an undefeated team, the 11.5-point spread feels right as the Raiders are 2-2. Taking a look at the numbers might tell us a different story. Both teams have scored a ton and with a Chiefs advantage of 117-111 in total points a slight one, this has the makings of a closer than anticipated game.

Similarly, the over of 55.5 reflects a high scoring game. Only one game is higher on Sunday (MIN-SEA) so that does give me some pause, but I like it with the game being played in pretty great weather.

If the Raiders can get around their average then I really like them to cover here. Naturally, that will come down to the Chiefs defense to decide this game and with Henry Ruggs questionable, things can get dicey for LV. Still, they held their own vs the Bills and can here as well. Not enough to win, but definitely to cover.

The slight majority of the handle and bets are for the Chiefs and the points, with 64 percent of the handle and 54 percent of the bets leaning toward Kansas City. The same is true with the moneyline at an even higher percentage, with 88 percent of the handle and 91 percent of the bets favoring the Chiefs.

Speaking on the point total, the money is on the over, with 64 percent of the handle hoping the game goes over 55.5 points. The percent of bets made are also on the over, with 62 percent leaning over.

We’ll see who come out on top Sunday.
