LeBron James has won his 4th NBA Finals MVP after the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Miami Heat in Game 6 on Sunday. James has won MVP in every Finals victory in his career, which totals four over his 17-year career. Leading up to Game 6, James was -1000 to win Finals MVP. LeBron entered Game 6 averaging 30.2 points, 11.4 rebounds and 8.2 assists in the finals. He finished with 28 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists in Game 6.
James is deserving of Finals MVP after leading the Lakers to the title. Anthony Davis was the only real competition for the award with LeBron. AD didn’t do as much the past couple of games in the series and James stepped up big with a triple-double in the clinching game and 40 points in the Game 5 loss. James has now won a Finals MVP award with the Heat, Cavaliers and Lakers.
James is now second place all-time with 4 NBA Finals MVPs. He trails only Michael Jordan, who won Finals MVP in all six of his championship wins. James passed Shaquille O’Neal, Tim Duncan and Magic Johnson, who each had 3 NBA Finals MVP awards. LeBron joins Shaq, Kobe Bryant, Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as Lakers players to win Finals MVP. LeBron is the third player to win a title with 3 different teams.
Here’s how the voting shook out for Finals MVP. LeBron was a unanimous winner.
