What to do with Chris Herndon IV in Week 5 fantasy football

Is this the week the Jets’ tight end finally isn’t a disappointment? Will the Jets even play a game?

There was so much excitement around Chris Herndon after his 2018 season. It sure looked like the New York Jets had a superstar tight end on their hands. Things haven’t worked out that way so far. It’s been all downhill for Herndon, and it doesn’t look like that’s going to change this week.

Fantasy Football analysis: Jets TE Chris Herndon IV

Right off the bat, we have to put an asterisk here. With a player testing positive for COVID, as of Friday morning, the team has been sent home, and we’ll have to wait and see what happens to their Week 4 game which is scheduled for Sunday at 1 PM.

Whether the Jets play Sunday or not, you can leave Herndon on the bench, or on the waiver wire where he belongs. In four games, he’s got just 74 yards on 11 catches, and has yet to find the end zone. This is happening on a team scraping the bottom of the depth chart because of injuries to their wide receivers too. Maybe the decision to start Joe Flacco this week could change that, but I sure wouldn’t bet my fantasy prospects on it.

Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation

Sit Chris Herndon.
