Early look at lines for Lakers vs. Heat NBA Finals Game 6

When all of us thought the Los Angeles Lakers were going to coast to another five-game series win, Jimmy Butler happened again. The Heat SG posted another huge triple-double in 47 minutes in a Game 5 win on Friday night. So the Lakers lead is cut to 3-2 in the series as we head into Game 6 on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC. Let’s take an early look at the spread, over/under and moneyline on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Moneyline: Lakers (-200), Heat (+165)

These are the lowest lines we’ve seen across the board for this series. The Lakers hadn’t been favored by less than 7 points in any game. After the Heat’s performance in Game 5, the books are leaning toward Miami keeping these games competitive. I still think this favors the Lakers on the spread. Realistically, when the Lakers decide to close this series out — whether it’s in Game 6 or 7 — chances are they’ll beat the Heat by more than 5 points. They’ve won by at least 6 points in all three of their victories in the finals.

If you’re worried about the Heat showing up again in Game 6, I understand. They aren’t going to go down without a fight and chances are we see another close game on Sunday. My thinking is this is the game where we really have to see pushback from the Lakers. If the Heat win Game 6 and force Game 7, all bets are off. Anything can happen. I’d honestly favor the Heat in a Game 7 given the momentum from two straight wins. So Game 6 would be the contest we see LeBron James and Anthony Davis give it all to get the ship.

That may be tough considering Davis was clearly ailing toward the end of Game 5 after tweaking his heel earlier on. If AD isn’t 100%, that only makes things even easier on the Heat defensively. Bam Adebayo returned in Game 4 and he’s played great, particularly down low. Davis was the big advantage the Lakers have had over all their opponents in the playoffs. Losing that edge given L.A.’s lack of depth would be concerning. If you think AD’s injury may be more serious than it appears, getting on the Heat ML makes some sense.
