Sit Jared Goff in favor of these deeper league pivots in Week 5

Pivot to some widely available POSITION with favorable matchups in Week 5.

The Rams offense has looked great at times, but they have also relied on the run, with 33.5 rushing attempts per game. That ranks them fourth overall. That has pushed Jared Goff’s attempts down to 30.5 per game, or fourth-fewest in the league. That has led him to QB17 in average fantasy points per game so far this season.

The Sit: Jared Goff

This week Goff takes on a Washington Football Team that hasn’t played that badly against the pass. They’ve allowed the seventh-fewest passing yards per game while Football Outsiders has the third overall in pass defense DVOA. They haven’t played as well against the run though, as with Washington’s offense likely not set to put up big points, the Rams should be able to run the ball and keep the game close or take a lead into the fourth quarter. The game flow should set Goff up for fewer pass attempts than normal.

The Starts: Teddy Bridgewater, Gardner Minshew, Kirk Cousins

These three quarterbacks are all set up well this week, as they get great matchups in the passing game. Bridgewater takes on a Falcons pass defense that is hurting and getting roasted week in and week out. Minshew faces a Texans team that hasn’t forced their opponent’s to pass that much, but when they do, they’ve been successful. The Jaguars defense should allow the Texans to put up some points and push Minshew to throw. And Cousins, his number shave been bad, but Seattle has been a perfect team to target this season, as their pass defense keeps giving up big plays while their offense keeps their opponent’s needing to catch up.
