What to do with Broncos D/ST, Jets D/ST in Week 4 fantasy football

The Broncos and Jets D/ST’s are both off to sputtering starts this year. Through three games the Jets D/ST has accumulated a total of 6.0 fantasy points, while the Broncos D/ST has accumulated 8.0 total points. That being said, each of these teams offenses afforded their Week 3 opponents’ D/STs huge fantasy days. Could this Week 4 battle of two bad offenses turn into an opportunity for both D/STs to flourish? We break down the fantasy implications below.

Fantasy Football analysis: Broncos D/ST, Jets D/ST

In Week 3 the Jets offense made the Colts D/ST the highest scorer at the position, with 26.0 fantasy points. In that game, the Colts D/ST recorded three interceptions, two sacks, one safety, and scored two touchdowns. They held the Jets to seven points on the day. This bodes well for the Denver D/ST who is off to a slow start and sorely missing their defensive leader, Von Miller. They are a banged up unit, as they just placed two more defenders (linebacker Austin Calitro and defensive lineman Jurrell Casey) on IR due to injury. Cornerback Devontae Harris and outside linebacker Jeremiah Attouchu both logged limited practices Tuesday, but the rest of the defense seems healthy. Most weeks, this is a unit to avoid, but streaming a D/ST against the Jets is never the worst idea and could be a good move this week.

We already know the Colts were the top scorer at the D/ST position in Week 3, but it’s interesting to note that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers D/ST were the second highest scorers at the position, with 19.0 fantasy points. They were playing none other than they Denver Broncos. They recorded two interceptions, a whopping six sacks, one safety, and one block, while allowing the Broncos to score only ten points on the day. While the Broncos provide opportunity for D/ST’s to score points, the Buccaneers had a hand up on the New York Jets. Linebackers Jordan Willis and Jordan Jenkins, safety Ashtyn Davis, cornerback Quincy Wilson, and lineman John Franklin Meyers all practiced on a limited basis Tuesday, indicating that the Jets are a banged up squad. Despite the opportunity against a stuggling and injury laden Denver offense, the Jets D/ST can stay on the waiver wire except for the deepest of leagues.
