New York Jets running back Le’Veon Bell has landed on the IR with a hamstring injury, and Frank Gore has replaced him as the starter. Gore is 37 years old and might not be suited to continue being a workhorse. La’Mical Perine will likely split carries with Gore against the Denver Broncos in Week 4, but it’s unclear whether either will have significant fantasy football upside.
Fantasy Football analysis: Jets RBs Frank Gore, La’Mical Perine
Gore has benefitted most from Bell’s injury, as he’s racked up 36 carries in his last two games. He only tallied 120 rushing yards in those two starts, but La’Mical Perine and Kalen Ballage have only combined for 13 carries. The Jets have the fifth fewest rushing yards in the NFL and are also dealing with an injury to 2020 first-round pick Mekhi Becton, so the outlook for their ground attack isn’t great.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Gore is worth starting in deeper league just because of how many touches he’s gotten in recent weeks. I’d consider him for a punt play in DFS, because he’ll return solid value if he manages to fall into the end zone.
