Tua Tagovailoa announces entrance into 2020 NFL Draft

The Tua Tagovailoa era is officially over, as the Alabama quarterback has decided to forgo his senior season to enter the 2020 NFL Draft. Tagovailoa broke the news alongside coach Nick Saban during a press conference on Monday.

Tagovailoa took an interesting path to prominence. The native Hawaiian replaced now-Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts in the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship and went on to win offensive MVP of the contest as a true freshman. He entered the following season as highly touted NFL prospect and became the golden boy of college football. He threw for 3,966 yards and 43 touchdowns as first-year starter in his sophomore season before falling short to Clemson in the national championship game.

Despite his loss, Tagovailoa entered 2019 as the consensus top quarterback prospect in the 2020 draft class, before he suffered a season-ending hip injury and was overcome by LSU’s Joe Burrow. However, he remains a top-tier talent worthy of a first-round selection.

Tagovailoa’s pinpoint accuracy, knack for throwing the long ball, and sharp mind make him worthy of top ten pick consideration. He threw for 7,442 yards and 87 touchdowns in just 32 collegiate appearances. Now he’ll get to test his mettle against the best in the world.
