UPDATE: Jan. 7, 5:24 p.m. — Thompson and Love are both expected to play Tuesday night vs. the Detroit Pistons.
#Cavs expect Tristan Thompson (illness) to play tonight vs. Pistons.— Spencer Davies (@SpinDavies) January 7, 2020
Love was removed from the injury report yesterday and Thompson is expected to be back, so Cleveland will have its full starting frontcourt against Detroit.
UPDATE: Jan. 5, 5:36 p.m. — Now Thompson is also being listed as out for the Cavaliers vs. the T-Wolves.
Cleveland Cavaliers PF/C Kevin Love will rest Sunday vs. the Minnesota Timberwolves. Tristan Thompson is listed as questionable due to an illness. This comes a day after The Athletic reported that Love had another altercation with Cavaliers brass during a shootaround on Saturday. Love is clearly upset with the direction of the team and has voiced that he wants to be traded. Does Love sitting out Sunday mean a deal is imminent? Or is it just time for him to calm down and reset?
Fantasy Basketball Analysis: Cleveland Cavaliers forwards
So with Love out, normally we’d pivot to Thompson, but his status is up in the air as well. Plus, we already know that Larry Nance Jr. is going to be out. So that leaves few options in the frontcourt for Cleveland. Cedi Osman should play a ton of minutes at SF/PF, while John Henson and Ante Zizic should also see time at PF and C against the Timberwolves, who could be without a plethora of key players, including Karl-Anthony Towns, Andrew Wiggins and Jeff Teague.
